Do You Ever Wish?

Do you ever wish?

Trust me I do....More than you can imagine

You wish you lived in a duplex instead of a flat.
You wish you had your car instead of taking the bus
You wish you had a plasma instead of a '21' inch tv
You wish you travelled to the US and the Uk instead of Ogun State and Ilorin
You wish yourparents were rich and popular like them Lagos celebrity people.
You wish you could bring out our phone in public...with pride
You wish you were just a liitle bit finer
You wish you were just a little bit taller
You wish you you could afford to reacharge your phone everyday
You wish you could were original Gucci and Prada instead of 'Tailo lo ran' and 'Yaba Picks'
You wish your friends were cool and popular
You wish you were schooling abroad than in Nigeria
You wish you could just fit in...

As I said earlier, If it's a wish, trust me, I have wished it. But is there anything wrong in having all the good things? Is there anything wrong in fitting in with the rich and the upperclass? There is nothing wrong. Trust me.

But I want you to know something, there is a time for everything. Now I know you really want to be part of the 'IN' crowd. You want every good thing life has to offer. But no matter how cliche this sounds it is d truth...Rome wasnt built in a day.

I just want to encourage anyone feeling like this that, God has got a perfect plan for your life, for m life, for our lives. And because I know my worth and I know who I am and what I will become and where God is taking me. Homie, i dont need to wish ANYMORE. I'll just keep living my life, entering the 'danfo', calling at the payphone, sleeping with no light with an understanding that my latter will be greater than my former. I know that soon, you'll be saying my name, soon, I will have all the things I need and that God will use me to bles others. So instead of wishing, I know that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us (Romans 5:3-5).

So live your life, be thankful for the little you have, God who did it before will do it again. Live your life. See you at the TOP! Happy New Year 2009

It's Gonna Be Simple...

OK, I believe in timing. Everything happens for a reason and there is no coincidence. It is just something I know. I have been reflecting over my life and trust me, it has not been a good experience. But God is always here for me, seeing me through every storm, trial, tribulation...

Last week, I got the music video of Stacie Orrico's So Simple. I remember when I had her 3rd album 'Beautiful Awakening', I never really used to listen to the song 'cause I considered it kinda boring. Anyways, I downloaded the video and I loved it. I took time to listen to the lyrics and I started looking at the big picture.

Right now...
-If you are a friend and you are not contributing ANYTHING POSITIVE to my life...that's the door.
-God is taking center stage. NO ONE should bother competing for the Nos. 1 spot cause he got it already.
-Family comes 2nd. I am OK with the way we are. We may not be the richest, the most popular but we got each other and we love each other. That's all that matters.
-I will NEVER take my true friends for granted again, so Bunmi, Glory, Isoken, Ndatse, Tobi, Victor, Peter A, Peter E and others, I LOVE YOU GUYS
-I will NEVER hesitate to love someone, we don't know tomorrow.
-I will ALWAYS be true to ME AND GOD.
-To all of those who I made feel important and took me for granted...you guys know yourselves. I can't afford that luxury anymore

Tears are actually in my eyes right now and NO I am not crying. I am just happy and grateful to God for this revelation. I am happy and I am trusting him that he will give me the strength to live my life like this...True to life...true to me...

This is the song...

"So Simple  by Stacie Orrico"

(It could all be so simple, simple)

Don't need high heels (For me, I don’t need converse..lol)

For a good feel

You can keep the fancy clothes

I'll take walking in the rain

Over things material

I'll trade Melrose and the big names

Give me faces that I know

Just play a melody that everybody knows

Take it down, down, down

And strip it to the core

I don't really need much less is more, more, more

[CHORUS:]

True to life, true to me

The way it's got to be

So simple, so simple, so simple

Live to love, love to be

Absolutely free

(so simple, so simple, simple)

Give me wisdom, plain and truthful

Teach me something I don't know

Plain as education, inspiration I suppose (yeah yeah)

Give me family, on a Sunday

And I'll be just fine

There's nothing in the world

That's worth more of my time

Take it down, down, down

And strip it to the core

I don't really need much less is more, more, more

[CHORUS ]

Living my dream, is my song to the world

(let 'em hear it)

Sharin' my soul and spirit

I'm hoping that you hear it

Got one (one) life (life) to live (live)

It's only what you make it (make it)

Every new day's a chance worth taking

[CHORUS ]

It's gonna be so simple...

Youth With A Purpose: My Life, My Family, My All

I was going out yesterday to Computer Village. I needed to get a new charger so I could get my laptop back on course. On my way, I entered a bus filled with nagging old people who were just complaining over nothing. I was getting really frustrated but I was trying to just look ahaed and face my destination. On my way, I saw a billboard of Soul Quest (you know they won the Malta Guiness Street Dance Africa Competition in Nigeria), they were called the CHAMPS! Really, a smile came on my face. I was so amazed and filled with joy that people from my Youth Group were representing. To all of you who don't know, Soul Quest is the dance team of YWAP.

Youth With A Purpose is a faith based organization. It is a non-denominational christian group of young people who strive to impact their generation positively for Jesus Christ through unorthodox ministrations.Numerous young people have been delivered from self-destructive lifestyles and restored to loving relationship with God and their families.

Youth With A Purpose encourages young people to pursue spiritual growth. Through our programs, our members develop leadership skills, receive training to become young entrepreneurs and learn ways of resourcefully & productively using their natural talents for the Kingdom of God .

Youth With A Purpose has a vision to see its members utilize their gifts, skills, & ideas to cause positive changes in the world through the power of Jesus Christ. Our activities and programs are characterized by a commitment to excellence and an unorthodox approach that greatly appeals to young people. At our events, exciting visual productions of dance, music & drama are usually used to present a positive message to the young people of the 21st Century.

Youth With A Purpose recognizes that the Christian faith is the greatest force for change in the world today; and we therefore present the Christian message at every opportunity

Sometime in 1999 the Spirit of God began to impress it upon the heart of Dr. Charles Ononiwu , a consultant maxillofacial surgeon , to bring young people together and start a youth group that would reach out to other young people.

In obedience to God, Dr. Ononiwu spoke to a few young people and discovered that God had been preparing their hearts beforehand. On Wednesday the 27th October 1999 the first meeting was held, a name was later adopted by consensus and Youth With A Purpose (YWAP) was born that day in Kaduna , northern Nigeria.

YWAP is about "PEOPLE" - Young people. Since we are about affecting our generation for Christ,we believe that anyone who becomes a part of this mission must identify their gift and find where they can fit into the group to acheive the Vision. Our People are identified by Teams and Departments. These Teams and Departments are duplicated at the center level.

THE DEPARTMENTS

Administration: This department shoulders the responsibility of documentation of our every activity, and functions as the secretariate of Y-WAP. Nuru-Joshua Agbaje is the DeputyInternational Chief Coordinator Administration (DICC Admin).

Finance: This department handles accounting, budgeting allocation and investment of Y-WAP funds.

Care: This department oversees the Spiritual, Mental, and physical well being of Y-WAP members. They go the extra mile to show practical love to both members and non-members alike. Samaila Yahaya is the DeputyInternational Chief Coordinator Care (DICC Care).

Networking:This department builds and manages the relationships with friends, churches, partners and business associates of Y-WAP .

Operations:This department is primarily about Event Management of YWAP activities. It also handles the technical arm of Y-WAP events.Jerry Bangoji is the Deputy International Chief Coordinator Operations (DICC Operations).

Education and Entrepreneurial development: This department promotes youth empowerment through the development and acquisition of various skills. Seyi Mathew is the Deputy International Chief Coordinator Administration Education and Entrepreneurial development (DICC Education and Entrepreneurial development).

Creative Ideas: Here is where many Y-WAP ideas are born, molded and given flesh to enhance our presentations, keeping them up to standard with the world around us, and setting the pace for others like us. Akinlabi Akinbulumo is the Deputy Chief Coordniator Creative Ideas (DICC Creative Ideas).

YWAP is further split into teams which are basically the ministry arms. Apart from our everyday lifestyle as christians, these teams are our voice to our generation and our hands touching our world.

These teams include:
Soul Squad: This is the evangelism/outreach teamof YWAP , involved with direct/ one-on-one soul winning and outreach to schools (speaking on the power of purpose) and taking the word of God as it is to those who are in need. Prince Thomas is the International team leader

Soul Quest: This is the dance team of YWAP.Dance is a unique and contemporary form of ministry.it is about expressing worship, praise, warfare, prophecy, love and joy.The team is simply involved in putting the word of God into a language that our generation can understand- the language of Dance.Ibrahim Suleiman aka Capt. Quest is the International team leader

Soul Rhythm: This is the music arm of Y-WAP. Music is one of the most powerful information tools. It takes advantage of the power that lies in music and harnessing it to bring in young people into the kingdom of God through writing, composing and production, of music..Praise Adejo is the International team leader .

Soul Flame: This is the "Rap" music team of YWAP. People often wonder why it exists outside the music team. Our answer is that, amongst many things we have observed the damage that this form of music has caused our generation because of its wrong use and hence we are on a mission to use it to bring victims of this damage to Jesus..Bankole Ojo aka QRU-CY-FYDE is the International team leader .

Soul Vision: This is the dynamic and colorful theatrical arm of Y-WAP that puts together dramas, musicals, skits and, short films and movies.Uche Eze is the International team leader.

Soul Expression: The art team. Here, ministry is done through any form of art, particularly visual art and literary art.

Soul Media: As the name implies, this is the media arm of Y-WAP that deals with publishing, television and radio production.

Soul Digital: This is the computer,ICT taem of youth with a purpose. It is generally involved withusing technology to reach out to our generation with the message of jesus Christ..Ope Fasanya is the International team leader.

Welfare: A subsidiary of the care department that closely and cautiously watches and monitors the spiritual, physical, social the wellbeing of members.Eyza Icha is the International team leader .

Prayer and Counseling: The prayer and counseling team engage in intersession with and on behalf of the entire Y-WAP body. It also caters to the “someone to talk to” and “a shoulder to cry on need” for young people in need of proper word- informed encouragement, direction and guidance. Counselors are also split into visitation teams that cover different parts of the city for fellowship and a close follow up on the progress of members.Micheal Gwabin is the International team leader.

Business team: Encourages and oversees budding business initiatives and youth empowerment in the business world.Tolu Olafimihan is the International team leader .

Academic team: Organizes seminars that are aimed at encouraging academic excellence and success as a tool of ministry.

Sports team: Organizes sport events such as matches, tournaments and festivals that are open to a large audience in order to preach the word of God.

Y-WAP Panacea: Which is from a greek word meaning "cure for all" is alternatively known as the health team.It ies run by a group of doctors and is involved incatering for the health of our people, providing free medically consultation in our rural outreach missions, combatings HIV/ AIDS and other killer diseasesand other health issues as affects young people. It is headed by Dr Tete Okatahi
See more about panacea

This is us. The Y-WAP body. We belive in friendship, fellowship and Family.
Y-WAP…Affecting our generation for Christ

This is just a 'brief' intoduction of who we are. I belong to the Ota AKA Down-.South Center. it is located in Covenant Univeristy. The Center Coordinator is Odiba Victor. I am also on the Leadership team of YWAP. I serve as the Head of the Administration department as well as the Networking Department for my center. Also, I am the editor of our blog http://ywap-downsouth.blogspot.com

It is amazing how far God has brought YWAP in general and my center. It fills my hear with so much joy when I see how far we have grown and how far my life has changed because of this awesome family.

The Veritas Conflict by Shaunti Feldhahn

I just finished 'The Veritas Conflict' by Shaunti Feldhahn and I loved it. From the day I laied my eyes on that book I knew I was going to love it. Being a huge fan of Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker, the book looked like one I was going to love.

The plot follows Claire Rivers, an undergraduate of Harvard University who comes to an environment where being Christian is the same as being intolerant. With a Christian professor and his Teaching Assistant, Claire uncovers many secrets of the school that was founded on the foundations of Jesus Christ. The school that had the original motto "Veritas, Christo et Ecclesiae" means "Truth for Christ and the Church"

Although the book is a work of fiction, the reader is able to learn a lot about how Harvard University operates and also the relation between the spiritual and the physical. The spiritual warfare in the book is well explained, makes me remember Frank Peretti's 'Piercing The Darkness'. This is my first book by Shaunti but I am so going to buy her other books. She is an author that needs to be reckoned with.

Go get your copy of Veritas Conflict...NOW!!!!

No More Laughter by Nuru Jay Agbaje

I dedicate this poem to all victims of sexual abuse.
Rise up, you're still God's beautiful child.

I heard her voice every single day, laughing.
Rich bubbly sounds of pure emotion unsoiled by mature thoughts
Of cynicism.
When she laughs, it is a true
Sincere feeling.
I wish I could laugh like that… again.

I heard her voice every single night, laughing
Ringing peals of joyous delight unscarred by mature experiences
Of unfaithfulness.
When she laughs, she knows
Safety and peace of mind.
I wish I could laugh like that… again.

I heard her voice each and every day, laughing
Harmonious sounds of welcome untainted by mature doubts
Of motives
When she laughs, she trusts
Enjoyable people are here to play.
I wish could laugh like that… again

I heard other voices one dark night, raging
Bitter sounds of disgust charged with mature emotions
Of sympathetic anger
I saw her then, she was hurt
Innocence savagely stolen in the evening.
Now she would never laugh like that… again

Brandy Lyrics
Right Here Lyrics

"Right Here (Departed)"

[Intro]
When you feel your hearts guarded,
And you see the breaks starting,
When the clouds are far departed,
You'll be right here with me,

[Darkchild & Brandy]
B rock...
Darkchild..
We back..
You'll be right here with me

[Bridge]
You'll be right here with me
oh, oh [x16]
You'll be right here with me

[Verse 1]
When your life is going to fast,
off the train tracks
I can slow it down, oh
just when you think your bout to turn back
scared you might crash
I'll be your ground, oh

[Chorus]
Oh when you feel your hearts guarded,
And you see the brakes started,
And when the clouds above Departed,
You'll be right here with me,
And when your tears are dry from crying,
And when the worlds turned silent,
So when the clouds above Departed,
You will be right here with me,
Oh oh [Repeat x10]

I will be right here with you
you'll be right here with me
[Repeat]

[Verse 2]
When your trapped and there's just no key,
And you can't breathe,
I breathe for you,
The fire's got you down on both knees,
And the walls are closing in but I will,
Break it through,
And when you feel alone,
I'm a be at home,
Whenevers comes and go,
You know I got you,

[Chorus]
Oh when you feel your hearts guarded,
And when you see the brakes started,
And when the clouds above Departed,
You'll be right here with me,
(You'll see the sun)
And when your tears are dry from crying, crying,
And when the worlds turned silent...silent,
So when the clouds above Departed,
You will be right here with me,

[Bridge]

I will be here right beside you,
Every step you take (yea),
I will be your strength your shelter,
Shield you from the rain,
[Repeat]

[Chorus]
(oh when you feel),
oh when you feel your hearts guarded,
and when you see the brakes started,
and when the clouds above Departed,
you'll be right here with me (right here),
and when your tears are dry from crying,
and when the worlds turned silent,
so when the clouds above Departed,
you will be right here with me,

I will be right here with you,
You'll be right here with me,

At The Farafina Visual Arts and Literature Event

I was at the Farafina Visual Arts andf Literature Event just a couple of minutes ago (I posted an AD about it a while back). Anyways, I attended it and it was fun.

On getting there, I met Enitan, my classmate from school. We were suprised to see each other because apparently that was the last place I expected to find her and vice versa. Anyways, after talking for a while, the event kicked off with a poetry recitation by Chiedu (I really cant remember his last name, forgive me). Anyways he did three poems, I cant remeber the first one (I am sorry again), 'The People' and 'Happy Christmasaing' which was the one that was very beautiful. He is like a male Maya Angelou.

After that, there was an art exhibition by Adolphus Okpara, a photographer. He opened his exhibition with a poem called 'Dahomey meets Benin' and I have forgoteen the poet (I dont know why I am forgetting these little details). Anywyas, his works were very very very impressive. I I had money, I would have purchased one.

Next was the book readings. Eghosa Imasuen (who by the way is Enitan's uncle or cousin; not too sure) read from his book 'To Saint Patrick'. The book is amazing, trust me, I am not exagerrating. I think we have similar writing techniqyes but hey, it's just a thought. The book is about Gen. Murtalal Mohammed who is apparrently 'alive'. Don't worry, he is six fet under. This is just fiction. The second book reading was from Nnedi Okoroafor who by the way i a sensational Nigerian-American author. She read from her book 'Zara, The Windseeker'. It is about a 13 year old girl named Zara who can fly thanks to her 'dada'. Tight, right?

Next was a song by Kafayat Quadri. The song is called 'Wa Si Ile Eko', a Yoruba song that encourages young people to go to school. Sge did it accompnied by an acoustic guitar. Which she playes herself. Followed awas a poem recited by Jumoke Verissimo from her new anthology 'I Am Memory' The poem was about the Niger Delta and it was amzing.

The famous Timi Dakolo came and also performed a song that I really dont know the name to. He then gave us a sneak preview to his new single 'This Little Light of Mine'. Kafayat Quadri came again and did a spoken word skit (that is what I think it was). Can't really remeber what it was about (I really should go se a doctor, why am I forgetting things?)

Sisters, Chioma and Oluchi then came to talk about their tour around Africa. They have a project called Celebrate Africa and the aim is to correct the mbalances and the distortion of Africa to Africans and the world in general. They travled for five months by road to Mali, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, Burkina Faso and others. It is actually a very cool project to me because it is fun and it has good intentions. They will tour 7 states in Nigeria from december to January and they will go to Central, East, North & South Africa from Febuary. Onbe thing that struck me about these girls is that they actually quit their jobs to do this and trust me it takes GUTS! Ok...So I didn't stay to the end. I left when they wanted to show a filmshow about Ben Okri. Note, I did not leave cause I was bored but because the event was on the Island and I live on the Mainland and I have to beat traffic so I can be home on time. But I left with something special, Award winning Nigerian Author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, gave me her authograph. Now please y'all dont hate aite...lol! for more info visit http://thefarafinist.blogspot.com/

It was an amazing event in general. I had fun. Maybe I should organize something like this for Christian Writers and artistes. So all the good Christian Writers and artistes, email me so we can work something out ok? Let us show the world what we have to offer. Maybe we will have Abidemi Sanusi, Ted Dekker, and Seye...lol

My Experience at 'The Experience 2008'

I was at The Experience 2008 and trust me it was way better than last years own. Yes. i say it again. It was way better. Some of you may say it's a lie but trust my judgement on this one. it was amazing.

First, we all where getting hyped with Muyiwa from London, Midnight Crew and Chevelle Franklin. Yeah, I skipped Dekunle Fuji because he did not meet my expectations at all but Midnight Crew and Jamaican Chevelle rocked the house.

After them came Fred Hammond who was exceptionally good and Mary Mary never failed. They even sang the National Anthem and they sang it better than some Nigerians would. But the fun started at about 1 am when the rain started. At first it was just drizzling but later on it began to POUR! I was under the rain and trust me, it was a very 'amazing' rain. We started to pray and as we prayed it began to pour more. I knew it in my heart that it was warfare. The sound equipment blew but I loved the fact that in the midst of all these, we kept on worshipping. it was amazing as Israel Houghton, Don Moen, Donnie McClurkin along with the other artists kept on leading worship songs with no instruments to accompany them. We didn't here from Kirk Franklin and Kurt Carr but I am sure they were around there, helping out the best way they could.

Chris Tomlin's 'How Great Is Our God' was sung by every artist who ministered. That song is powerful and the song is now one of my favourites. The Experience 2008 was amazing because now I see God in a different light. Thank you Pastor Paul Adefarasin. I can't wait for next year.
