HA!-LLELUJAH: GMC to Launch New Comedy Series Ha!: Standing Up for Clean Comedy March 7

ATLANTA (Feb. 23, 2009) – Family-friendly stand-up, jokes, bits and sketches from the clean comedy scene will be featured in a new Gospel Music Channel television network (http://www.gospelmusicchannel.com) original series called Ha!: Standing Up for Clean Comedy. Ha! will debut as a special on Saturday, March 7 at 8 PM ET/PT and will then be seen as shorts interspersed throughout the GMC schedule.

Ha! will be hosted by comedian/actor Jonathan Slocumb (The Steve Harvey Show, Meet The Browns.) In an era when it is common for comics to use four-letter words and make sexual innuendos, Slocumb is known as "Mr. Clean." He frequently opens for Bill Cosby and has toured with Sinbad. Slocumb has also gained exposure from his role of "Clyde the Slide" on The Steve Harvey Show, and appeared on the popular The Tavis Smiley Show on National Public Radio (NPR) as well as on HBO's DefComedy Jam and PAX's Gospel Fire. Ha! will be the second GMC series Slocumb has hosted; he served as M.C. for season one of Gospel Dream, GMC’s answer to American Idol®.

Ha! will also feature the comedic talents of:

Lisa Alvarado – Chosen as one of the Top 20 "Up and Coming" Latino Talents in Los Angeles, Alvarado has appeared on NBC-TV’s Last Comic Standing, Nick at Nite’s The Search for the Funniest Mom in America 2 and ABC-TV’s "Comics Unleashed.”

Michael Joiner – A 14-year national and international touring headlining comedian whose clean style of clever sarcasm, quick wit, uncanny improv and audience interaction skills has made him a hit wherever he’s played.

Leighann Lord – Voted "The Most Thought Provoking Black Female Comic,” New Yorker Lord has appeared on ABC-TV’s The View, the Original HBO Def Comedy All Star Jam, Comedy Central’s Premium Blend and The World Stands Up and Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen.

Horace “HB” Sanders – Former CBS-TV Star Search Comedy Champion of whom Arsenio Hall commented, “Horace is like Sarah Lee, nobody doesn't like him!”

Angel Gaines – This Essence Magazine Clean Comedy Showcase Winner was recently crowned one of the top winners in the CALIFORNIA’S FUNNIEST FEMALE COMPETITION. She has performed throughout the United States and London, England as well being as a featured comic on the hugely popular Tom Joyner Cruise.

Taylor Mason – A wildly popular "G"-rated comedian with his own brand of puppets and ventriloquism using music and stand-up comedy, Mason has played Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, as well as the stages of local comedy clubs.

Ron G. – LA-based comedian best known for his national commercial appearances as well as being the first winner of tvONE network’s comedy competition Who’s Got Jokes.

Ron Baker, Jr. –The son of a preacher, Baker has performed with some of the top artists in Gospel music and captures audiences with wholesome comedy illuminating the “Humor in Reality.”

A picture began circulating in November. It should be "The Picture of the Year," or perhaps, "Picture of the Decade." It won't be. In fact, unless you obtained a copy of the U.S. paper which published it, you probably would never have seen it.

The picture is that of a 21-week-old unborn baby named Samuel Alexander Armas, who is being operated on by surgeon named Joseph Bruner. The baby was diagnosed with spina bifida and would not survive if removed from his mother's womb. Little Samuel's mother, Julie Armas, is an obstetrics nurse in Atlanta. She knew of Dr. Bruner's remarkable surgical procedure. Practicing at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, he performs these special operations while the baby is still in the womb.

During the procedure, the doctor removes the uterus via C-section and makes a small incision to operate on the baby. As Dr. Bruner completed the surgery on Samuel, the little guy reached his tiny, but fully developed hand through the incision and firmly grasped the surgeon's finger. Dr. Bruner was reported as saying that when his finger was grasped, it was the most emotional moment of his life, and that for an instant during the procedure he was just frozen, totally immobile.

The photograph captures this amazing event with perfect clarity. The editors titled the picture, "Hand of Hope." The text explaining the picture begins, "The tiny hand of 21-week-old fetus Samuel Alexander Armas emerges from the mother's uterus to grasp the finger of Dr. Joseph Bruner as if thanking the doctor for the gift of life."

Little Samuel's mother said they "wept for days" when they saw the picture. She said, "The photo reminds us pregnancy isn't about disability or an illness, it's about a little person" Samuel was born in perfect health, the operation 100 percent successful. Now see the actual picture, and it is awesome...incredible....and hey, pass it on! The world needs to see this one!

HE IS SO NOT MY TYPE

“He is So not my type!” She told me

“Sorry?” I asked looking at her in shock.

“Yea, Bolu (Not his real name), he is So So So not my type. I’d rather date a horse than date him” She said.

I looked at the girl speaking and I could not help giggling inside. I was tempted to say, “Look at who’s talking” but I knew better than that. The girl speaking was not a friend. She was just a girl I talk to in school. I could not believe she was saying that, but the truth is I do not blame her.

Honestly, there are times when we do the “He is not my type” or “She is not my type” but really have we stopped to check and say maybe, just maybe someone is saying the same thing about me.

I am not saying we should not have the things or specific qualities we look out for in a partner but “He is So not my type sounds... I do not know... wicked (if that is the word for it) and she had to add the she would rather date a horse line. Girls can be so MEAN!

Anyways, a man of God once said that if you are looking for the perfect husband/wife you should be the perfect wife/husband. In addition, someone who I consider wise once said we should treat every guy or girl we encounter in ways that will make them suitable husbands and wives for people. This way you are sowing a seed into your very own future. So I looked at the girl who'd rather date a horse than an actual human being and said "I bet he feels the same way too"

She was MAD! I have never seen anyone get angry the way she did that afternoon. She then tried to take me on a guilt trip (So typical). I mean the guilt trip works on 10 year olds. I am a young adult. Can't she see that? And she wants a perfect guy. I had so many things I wanted to tell her but I had to do the "Christian" thing. I had to let her know that no matter how bad you think someone is someone somewhere loves him or her just the way they are and that your opinion does not really count. He may not be the guy for you, fine, but he is someone else’s' dream guy. Maybe he is even the one God has destined for you to be with but you then lose him 'cause you couldn’t see the big picture so you then wind up with a loser with bad debt and a rotten personality.

The Bible makes us understand that as Christians we look at things we cannot see rather than the things we can see because the things we can see are temporal and the ones we can’t see are eternal, 2 Corinthians 4:18. The best gifts come in the worst packages. Jesus Christ in ALL HIS GLORY was born somewhere insignificant and put in a manger but he ended up saving the WHOLE WORLD from eternal damnation. Most people who were alive when He was born did not believe because they could not see the big picture.

SO LADIES: Realize that God has prepared someone special for you and he may not be the "perfect guy" of your dreams but he is the one God wants you to be with and please do not diss the ones He has prepared for someone else. Do not put them a lil bit lower than animals.

AND FELLAS: Realize that ladies are assets, God's own handiwork, beautifully and fearfully made. Respect them and love them. God has prepared someone for you too, so wait and ask God to show you who the person is. Also, do not put them down or make them feel worthless. I do not want some guy to determine the worth of my future wife.

So he/she may not be your type but they are most definitely someone’s'. Get it?

Lisa...Andrea...Danielle...Honestly, What's Up?: A FAN'S DESPERATE PLEA

OK. It's no longer news that I am the greatest Out of Eden fan ever! LOL! Yeah. i am not obsessed though, I just love their music because it has helped me grow in my Christian walk. The issue now is that my girls have gone silent. Yes I know they are retired but whats up. Lisa was supposed to put out a solo album and I have not heard anything concerning that. Andrea was supposed to be getting her degree in nursing and I have no clue about that. Danielle was going into fashion and launching a line called 'Almost famous' I only saw the picture from the launch party on Lisa's Myspace.

So to anyone who might know the girls. I just want to know whats up? It may be none of my business but at least I need to hear Lisa's solo project. I thought that after her marriage to Juan, they will record something, I mean they have been making appearances on albums and they have also been writing songs for people. I need to know whats up with Lisa apart from Bobby Jones or Andrea or Danielle.

ON BEHALF OF EVERY LOYAL FAN OF OUT OF EDEN...WHATS UP? WHATS NEW? WE JUST WANT TO KNOW.
