ANSWERS TO THE Q & A AND THE NIGERIAN BLOG AWARDS

#nowplaying Trip Lee- Who you rolling wit?

Hey guys. How was the weekend? Mine was OK, with lots of drama and plenty of reflection. I have learnt so much this weekend and I will share it with you during the course of the new month.

I asked y’all to ask me a couple of questions so I could answer. I got a few questions and I am going to answer them now.

1. Where do you see yourself in five years?
In exactly five years from now (By the grace of God), I see myself in my 3rd year at the Hillsong Leadership College in Australia. This will be my final year so I will be perfecting all the things I know to be able to go into ministry.

2. What are you studying?
Mass Communication. It is what I have studied for four years at Covenant University, Ota.

3. Are you planning to publish any written work eventually?
Yes. I actually have three books in the works. The first two are fiction; Kiss and Tell (It chronicles the lives of two different twins) and Restored (The story of a man who wakes up from coma after 10 years). The last book is a nonfiction book and it is called Me and Jesus. The book is about my relationship with Jesus Christ and I am convinced that it will bless the lives of many people.

4. Watermelon or Mango.
I am so for watermelon. I actually do not like mango or anything that has mango in it. Mango juice, mango jam, mango flavoured anything does not work for me.

5. Edikaikong or Egusi.
Edikaikong baby!!! I am already hungry now. lol

6. Who is Harry? (Got this one from Facebook)
Harry is a 20 something year old guy with many shortcomings but he is made perfect in Christ. He loves to hang out with friends, listen to music, write, blog and shout the fame of Jesus. He also has a passion for Spoken Word and he is a Spoken Word artist.

How do u upload a video without having a you-tube downloader on your system?
In all my years,if typewriters were still trendy,I'd probably still be comfy with those ancient gadgets-totally refusing to be more tech savvy/compliant!

Well, you don't need a Youtube downlaoder to upload or download a video from youtube. To upload, have an account with Youtube and a good internet connection and it is uploading galore. To download, just install the latest version of real player on your system. It will install a plug-in on your browser that will enable you to download videos from Youtube.
As regards the second question... I can NEVER be comfy with ancient gadgets... I love to be tech savvy.

Here they are. The answers to all the questions you asked me and I hope I answered them well. If you have more questions to ask you can still ask them and I will sure answer them.

Voting for the Nigerian Blog Awards has commenced so people you can start to vote. Yours truly has been nominated in four categories (Best Poetry Blog, Inspiring Blog, Best Student Blog and the Nigerian Blog of the Year). I would appreciate it if you can proceed here to cast your votes. I will really appreciate it. In addition, I got an amazing poem on Anani Speaks. Check it out here.

Thanks guys for your time. I have to go read now. Take care guys.

TEN THINGS I LOVE AND THE NIGERIAN BLOG AWARDS

http#nowplaying The Washington Projects- Love is like an Ocean
True love is like an ocean,
Like every shade of blue,
And every time I feel it,
I don’t know what to do,
But smile...

This is totally unrelated to this post but I am very happy. I was somewhat nervous about my exams but God has been showing Himself strong in my papers. He is too faithful, I mean honestly I know that He is the one that is working and showing Himself strong in my examinations. I love Him too much.

NakedSha tagged me in a post last month and the post was called “Ten Things I Love.” First, I want to apologize to her for just doing mine. I totally do not have an excuse and I am sorry. Anyways, this is it so sit back and read the ten things I love.
1.    God. He is Immortal, Invisible, the ONLY wise God. The One who was, who is and who is to come. He is so loving and I wonder why He loves me. I look at my life and I can CLEARLY see His hand over my life. What can I say? I love Him so much.
2.    Family. I love my family. Trust me, we are not The Huxtables. In fact, we are FAR from being The Huxtables but I love my family. I love my mother, my father, my siblings... you should see me when I am talking about my family. My friends can testify to the look I have or the way I feel when I have not spoken to any of them. I love them so much.
3.    Friends. I love my friends. Bunmi, Glory, Vivian, Ndatse, Isoken, Ope, Otaigbe, Chiago, Chiwi, Victor, Ngbede, Stephen, Funmi... they are amazing. I love having conversations with them. I love fighting with them. I love when we just chill together. I love when we talk about serious issues. I love when they encourage me in my faith. It is amazing. I love you guys!
4.    Writing. There is nothing as good as pouring out your thoughts on paper. When I write, I get to see things clearly. It is amazing when I really want to say things but I cannot because I would rather put it down on paper. Some people say I am not a good writer so I should not bother writing. Well, it is too late for that because I am addicted.
5.    Music. I love music. I cannot imagine an hour passing by without me listening to music. Even without a device playing, the song will play in my mind. It is as if I can hear the song and sometime I get my dance on. Right now, I am even listening to music. Kind of music I like- anything that makes sense. I cannot listen to songs that do not pass a positive message. I love music that makes me think even when I am dancing. Now you see why I love Sho Baraka so much. The artists I like are Hillsong Live (Their new album A Beautiful Exchange drops July 2010), Sho Baraka (Lions and Liars is off the chain!!!), Out of Eden (I miss them so much), The Washington Projects (Light Up The Dark frops June 2010), Group 1 Crew (I can't wait for the new video) and the likes.
Picture from Rapzilla.com
6.    Notepads/Notebooks/Journals. I love them. I spend most of my money buying notepads or cool notebooks or journals. Some of them are still empty, some of my friends have obtained some, some have been stolen but I still love to own them. I can get inspired anytime and it is good to have a notepad where you can put your thoughts in. One of my notebooks was a denim hardcover note and I wrote many things there but it was stolen. I was not the same for a week.
7.    Max Lucado. The first time I heard of Max Lucado was when one of my friends read one of His books and could not stop making noise about it. I am quite sceptical about Christian themed nonfiction books so I felt that he was probably one of them Christian authors who want to teach me a “Christian” version of the mainstream motivation messages. Everything changed when I read “The Applause of Heaven.” I loved the book so much I wrote a poem about it. Since then, Max Lucado never disappoints me. I have learnt so much from Him in a year and now I consider him my mentor.
8.    Talking. I am talkative. Most people think otherwise but you should ask my friends. I can talk a lot. I know it is not good too talk too much so I try to control myself but truth is I enjoy talking especially if I am talking to a group of people and I am telling them things they don’t really know. It is so cool. Talking is something I love to do although when you meet me for the first time, I WILL not strike you as someone that talks but do not mind the facade. I dey talk oh!!!
9.    Blogging. There is nothing that is as cool as blogging, especially when you are a Nigerian blogger. It is so much fun. I have been blogging since March, 2007 and back then it used to be kind of boring because I did not use to read other blogs. I will just post random stuff and my sister (Wise Sage) and Seye will read it and comment but things have changed. I have met amazing people on blogville and trust me the list is endless. I love blogging especially Blogville Naija... I am planning a party for us soon so keep your ears to the ground.
10.    Food. I love food. Rice, bread, egg, chicken, meat, banga, starch, dodo, noodles, spaghetti, potatoes, akara, moin moin, junk food... I love food and now I am hungry.

I hope you all enjoyed it. So now, I am tagging Dew, T-Notes, Rotex, Tolu Akanni and Chiwi. I am also doing a Q and A here. NakedSha has done it on her blog (This young lady inspires me) and Brooke Fraser also did it on her own blog so I want to do mine. So you can drop your questions after you comment or you can send your questions to my email harryitie@gmail.com. I am waiting for your questions.

Yours truly was nominated four times (Best Poetry Blog, Inspiring Blog, Best Student Blog and Nigerian Blog of the Year). You have no clue how I feel. Gifted Urban Contemporary Gospel Artist, TolumiDE, Drops Highly-Anticipated Project “My Love” On Tuesday, May 25, 2010

CD Release: TolumiDE Album Launch Listening Session
May 30th, 2010 Time: 4pm – 6pm EST
Busboys @ 14th & V. (2021 14th St, Washington, DC)
$12, more at the door

TolumiDE (pronounced toe-LU-mee-day) is one of the newest artists to embrace the urban contemporary gospel genre. With a style that is uniquely hers and a ministry that can’t be compared to any current artist of the day, she’s forging her own path in inspirational music. Making her way to the U.S. by way of Nigeria and Canada, TolumiDE’s sound is a mixture of urban, reggae, funk, soul, gospel and, of course, African rhythms, all rolled up into one. The recipient of the 2009 African Heritage Award for Outstanding African Artist is dropping her first full-length project entitled My Love on Tuesday, May 25, 2010. The artist will be officially releasing the project at Washington, D.C.’s hot spot Busboys & Poets (2021 14th Street, NW, Washington, D.C. – 202.387.7638) in the Langston Room at 4:00PM EST. She will be sharing live cuts from the new release and attendees will be able to purchase CDs and have them signed by the artist.

The industry has already been abuzz about the singer’s lead single, “My Love”, a funky, infectious pop and urban tune about the artist’s relationship with the Lord. The single’s video, directed by Tayo Abereoje for Black Royal Pictures, has also caught the attention of fans and gospel industry insiders alike with thousands of views on countless video websites. Exposing all the musical sides of the artist, the CD, My Love, is power-packed with one great track after another. TolumiDE uniquely packages inspirational messages with brilliant songwriting, flawless production and riveting vocals. Throughout the eleven tracks, all penned by the artist herself, TolumiDE bares her musical soul and takes the listener on an emotive and telling journey of her life and her Lord. Songs like the catchy “More Than You’ll Ever Know” and the slick “What I’d Like” are winners. “More Than You’ll Ever Know” is a relaxed track about true love and “What I’d Like” takes you by the hand with its captivating hook and memorable melody.

The Washington, D.C.-based singer is a graphic designer by day and an artist by night. While attending York University in Toronto, she became part of the multiple award-nominated group, Women Ah Run Tings. The group garnered numerous Canadian Music Award nominations, opened for artists such as Beenie Man and secured airplay on stations like Much Music, Canada’s #1 Video Music Channel. In 2008, TolumiDE released an EP entitled Specialty which saw moderate success and the lead single’s video “Because You Know” was played on MTV Base Africa, Channel O, Nigezie TV and other online media outlets. Through her career, she’s been blessed to perform at Blues Alley, the Vancouver Jazz Festival, the Toronto Jazz Festival, the Nigerian Entertainment Awards, FestAfrica, the Canadian Reggae Music Awards and other prestigious events.

She’s excited about the new project and feels that her fans will love it as well. “It’s Gospel Soul and Afro-pop CD with a unique blend of sincere lyrics and invigorating music that fuses African and Western elements,” she explains. “It’s definitely a good world music mix with elements of Reggae and Jazz. I’m really excited with what I have to share.”

A-Z Life Lessons

My friend Tolu Akanni's book A-Z Life Lessons drops really soon.. Here is a summary of what the book is about...

"A-Z: life lessons" is a 26 chapter, 94page book that stands out from the everyday book in the freestyle approach of the author, the text of some of the chapters are in shorthand, and every chapter has its unique pictorial expression, it explores the multifaceted experience of the author.
It is a book that makes you appreciate the undiluted thoughts of a 21st century 20year old as it is a product of a selection from the 365 day old archive of the 20year old author. The beauty of this lies in the fact that every page leaves you with something you can relate with; something the old can pick up and feel young remembering their youthful days, something the young can read and appreciate ‘youthfulness’ yet again , This book bears great trans-generational relevance!!

Tolulope Akanni, a 20 something year old member of the Covenant University Electrical and Electronics Engineering graduating Class of 2010, a blogger and C.E.O of the Brands and Event consultancy outfit, El Fiz Concept.

Why do we hurt the ones we love???

This was the question on my mind yesterday as I was washing. I can't really place what led to my asking the question but the deal is that I feel this is the issue. I feel that most times the people we end up hurting most times are the ones we love. Why do we do that? I mean, we are supposed to love them right?

Someone says hurt is inevitable... I do not agree. It's funny how a mother loves her child so much and in the end, she realizes he has been a very bad boy or the chic who realizes that the guy she gave her heart to is cheating...

I was wrapping up my novel "Kiss and Tell" when I decided to take a break. Apart from getting ready for final exams and all, I am at a very sad point in the book and I realized I was crying... I have hurt many people who I love and trust me it was unintentional...

Question is why do I do it????

I need to do some soul searching

Which love song will you sing when...?

Yesterday I watched a very interesting Indian movie titled Jaane Tu... ya jaane na.
Image from Bollywood-Hollywood Movies website

The movie is about a guy and a girl who were best friends throughout their college years and did not realize that they actually love each other. In a scene, all six friends were talking about the song they will sing when they find the one they love. This was the one I liked best...

jaana, dil jaana, kaise tune na jaana…
(love, my love, hoe come you never knew it…)
ye pyaar hi hai…
(that this indeed was love…)
haan jaane tu, ya jaane .. na…
(whether you knew it or didn’t…)

Amazing song, don't you agree? I then got thinking, what love song will I sing when I see the one I love. I don't have to sing it to her face but the song can play on in my mind... These where the songs that came to my mind...

1. Monica- Angel of Mine (I love the song so much!!!)
2. Stacie Orrico- I Promise (The lyrics are WOW!!!)
3. Brandy- The Definition (People don't understand why I love the song so much)
4. Craig David- Unbelievable (I think love gives us that feeling)
5. Grits- Be Mine (Personal favorite of mine. Talks about all the possibilities of the relationship)
6. Sho Baraka- We Can Be More (I mean, this is more than love)
7. Brooke Fraser- Without you (Have you heard this song??? It rocks!!!)

Trust me, many love songs came to my mind... these are just the few I could put down... But the one I love most is Grits' Be Mine... The song has swag+God... You can't deny it

Question for you: Which love song(s) would you sing or will play in your head when you finally meet the one?

Answers people!!!!!

First, I want to specially thank NakedSha for the amazing audio message she sent to me. Listening to it brought so much joy to mu spirit. Thank you so much... God bless you and may He give you exceeding joy, in Jesus name.

I was gonna comment on the last post but somehow, I couldn't so let me write what I wanted to say here...

@Nakedsha... Got the email... thank you so much
@Jabez...Thank you...you are most def invited to the graduation party
@Ope... My darling... It's OK.... I should have let you know wassup
@gidiasianbabe... I will sure remember that
@Suru... I guess you are right... Thanks for the prayer 2

Thank you so much guys for the comments and prayers... God bless you a mega zillion times!!!

My close friend for 3 and something years, Vivian, wrote this to me yesterday after she read it and I want to share it with you...

Lift up your eyes,
Lift up your hands,
See the sun,
Smell the sea,
in simple terms: TAKE A BREAK!!!

I know this feeling! Oh yeah, I do. I am the only child of a Bishop. Imagine the pressure. The only different thing is my fantasies, hopes and dreams still have a while before achievement.

Day 1 (Friday): Take a break! Relax! Enjoy life
Day 2 (Saturday): Reflect on the past, consider the future but focus on the present.
Day 3 (Sunday): Go to Church, listen to the Word and make a firm decision.

During these three days, consider the following life nuggets.

Don't live till tomorrow, what you can do today. Free up your tomorrow.
Don't live your fate in the hands of others. Do it yourself.
Depend on no one for your security and your happiness but God.
Live your life for YOURSELF and no one else but God.

Pray this prayer:
Lord I believe. Help my unbelief.

Trust me, God dey!!!!

You don't want to know how I felt when I read this. I was so happy. I am extremely grateful to God for nudging me to express myself because this feeling had been there for a long time... since April to be more precise... It is not like I don't know all this, is just I had been there and done all that and it wasn't working. But from all the comments from the last post, to NakedSha's message to Vivian's amazing note, I can clearly hear God speak to me... It is so amazing...

I am not there yet but I am getting there... thank you again guys... My testimony is coming really soon so watch out for it...

Have a blessed Thursday...

Trotcha!

Cold Feet, Bitten Fingernails, Hair on the edge... Help me believe.

I don’t know but it is like I have cold feet. I am rounding up my university education and I am worried and scared. Truth is my university education was not the one I imagined. It was supposed to be better than what it has turned out to be. I was supposed to shine extremely bright but somewhere along the line, things changed.

I have been trying to ask myself where it all went wrong. I am wondering how all the misconceptions about me arose. How I failed to meet my expectations and that of everyone that knew/know me. I am not doing poorly, don’t get it twisted but at the same time, it is like I am a disappointment.

I want you to note at this point that this is not a pity note and I will most definitely NOT be hosting a pity party anytime soon. Thing is I just want to know how and why. People tell me believe God and yourself and all things will fall in place and that there is a bigger picture blah blah blah. Seriously? Is that really the case? I was doing an inventory of my life presently and I could not help but break down. Right now, blogging is the only thing I do and actually love. My writings, my poetry… they are the things that make sense right now. It is like I am in a dark hole and so many things are unsure. I am doing things I don’t want to do and…

Five years ago, I had a different dream. I imagined what five years from then will look like, my graduation and all… I imagined how I would be as an individual. Right now, it feels like I was living in a fantasy. Once again, I beg you not to get it twisted, I am grateful to God for how far he has brought me but I am not exactly happy and today I admitted it to myself. I am not only unhappy, I am scared and you don’t want to know the thoughts that have been running through my mind.

So I am here, sitting in this dark hole, trying hard to believe that there is so much more to my life. I am trying to believe that all things will work together for my good. The only question I ask is do I even love the Lord? Things are really weird with me and I… (Blank)

God. Help me believe. I want to believe in You and I want to believe in me. I want to believe in love and I want to know that I will make it till the end and finish the race with a huge smile plastered on my face. I want to believe that my family and friends will be happy with me and that I have become a better person. I want to believe.

Right now, my feet are cold from fear, my fingernails are bitten from intense nervousness, and my hair is standing on edge. I mean anything can happen. Please, help me believe again.

The Ameboholic!!!

Two of my close friends, Chiago and Chiwi (They are engaged), gave me a card for my birthday and for a successful defense. On one of the cards they wrote, "The Ameboholic" with the intonations and all. At first, I could not figure out what they wrote but when I did, I laughed so hard... apparently, I am no longer The Talkaholic but now an Ameboholic.

I remember when I chose the name for this blog like it was yesterday. I needed to name it something and "The Talkaholic" just came to me. Now people call me "The Talkaholic" and I feel the name is a part of me. While I am not sure if it is a good word or bad one, another name comes into view... The Ameboholic...

I really wanna work with this name and I have been brain storming on what exactly I can do. Do I change the name of the blog? Do I start a column or something? I am most definitely not starting a new blog anytime soon so that is way out of the equation... but still what do I do? I am open to any suggestion.

Life is still beautiful and I am living it like it is golden. There are lots of things going on but I choose to have a very positive attitude. Also, I am pretty excited about the Nigerian Blog Awards and you can still nominate me here. To nominate you type the blog address not the blog name... Take note...

I gotta go now... stay safe. I will leave you with this powerful quote by Ted Dekker, "Jesus did not come to save your bank accounts, He came to save your souls."
Think about it.

Trotcha!

PS: Still pray for the flood victims in Nashville, Tennessee and to all of y'all in the US who can help, please do. God bless.

Have your way

This is my request, O Lord,
That even as I prepare for tomorrow,
You will have Your way.
Speak through me, Lord.
Prove to them that I actually know what I am doing,
Give me the confidence I need to defend my work,
Let me speak with charisma that they have not see before,
But most of all,
Have your way and Let Your will be done.
Amen.

I got my defense tomorrow. Pray for me guys. It is gonna be a walk over.

Trotcha!!!

The iPhone gets cooler

There are iPhone apps and THERE ARE iPhone apps. I am not really a fan of apps but when I see one that is cool and free, I have to talk about it.

I love when I see innovation in ministry. To see people of God take time out and think of better ways to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and that is what Wave Study Bible Ministry has done. They have created an application for the iPod Touch and iPhone that will make the Bible very convenient to read. It is built for the average person meaning you don't have to be a professor in theology to use the application. It has multiple bible versions for deeper understanding. It does not have distracting footnotes. It is just straight Bible and tips on how to read it. I honestly think you should try it... Visit their site here for more information.
