Tia and Tamera...hmmn

I am a huge fan of Sister Sister. It is one of the funniest teenage sitcoms I have watched. Tia and Tamera are amazing actresses and I have come to love them and respect them and their talent. The sisters went further to star in films like Seventeen Again and then Twitches. They have also achieved individual success.

Tia
Currently as a lead role in The CW sitcom 'The Game' starring alongside Coby Bell, Pooch Hall, Wendy Raquel Robinson and Brittany Daniels(Sweet Valley High). She also starred in the 2007 movie 'The American Standards. She is also going to be taking the role of Pilar from Crystal Joy in the US National Tour of Legally Blonde. She is also currently married to Cory Hardrict of Lincoln Heights. they got married on April 20, 2008. She is to star in movies Hollywood Horror and Four to The Floor.

Tamera
She is stars in ABC sitcom called Roomates. The plot revolves around friends who move in together after college. She also had a role on Strong Medicine as Dr. Kayla Thornton and on Family Guy as Esther. She is to star in 2009 movies Hollywood Horror and Fight or Flight.

OK. So what's the deal with them. Well Tia and Tamera are professed Christians who became born again when they were 8 years old. They have talked about their faith openly. For instance
Unlike other professed Christians in the spotlight, Tia and Tamera remained close to the Lord during the height of their popularity. "My sister and I—not naming any names—run into so many people who say before they get famous, 'I will never [compromise],'" Tia says thoughtfully. But then they get famous, and "all of the sudden we see them taking their clothes off."
-Christianity Today Interview 2005
The thing is people think they are fake. People say as Christians they should not have starred in Twitches or Tia should not be exposing too much skin or sleeping around as her character in The Game does. They claim they are setting wrong examples for their Christian role models who see them as role models.

What is my take on this?
Don't call me biased but I think it is all acting. They say they are Christians then let us take their word for it. If they act a movie about witches...so? I mean we know the plot of that movie is similar to that of fairy tales. It is just unfortunate the name is 'Twitches'. If in The Game Tia's character Melanie is not leaving the Christian life does not mean that she as an individual is not a Christian.

I will keep saying this. We are all human beings and we all struggle with different things. It is not in my place or your place to judge someones Christian walk. Besides, whatever you write about them will not affect them wherever they are. They'll keep doing their thing as always. I'll end with what they said at their interview with Christianity Today:

"We have to focus on the fact that all of this is temporary," says Tia. "The main thing God is concerned about is what we're doing for Him."

Trotcha!

  2. Either you are a Christian or not. Period. Yes, no one is perfect, but when you deliberately choose roles that require you to be promiscuous in your actions or use profanity, that's not practicing what you preach! THEY are the ones that said they would REFUSE to take these roles and not be like other people who sell out and not represent Christ. If they didn't mean it, they should not have said it. The fact that they preach this message makes them accountable-especially to young Christian girls that may get confused by the image they project vs. the message they preach.

  3. you have a point anonymous, the thing is that it is not in our place to say they are not Christians, only God decides that!

    1. You forgot one thing. Jesus used the analogy of a tree when knowing a person's character. He said a good tree does not produce rotten fruit. You will know a person by their fruit (actions).

  4. true talk harry... at the end God knows those that are His... plus i think that instead of us spending time "deciding" who is a christain or not, let us see if we ourselves measure up to the scale...

  5. Matthews 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Mammon refers to money or wealth. People compromise being Christ like to earn the big $$$'s. And in their mind find a way to believe they are alright. Hebrews 12:14 live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. We may make mistakes but strive to live according to the ways of the Lord. So us Christians should ask ourselves Would we behave in the same way if Jesus himself was stand visibly beside us???

  6. Let he that is without sin cast the first stone. As born again Christians we are not sinless, we merely sin less. There is none perfect. God is the only true judge! I love these wonderful ladies.

    1. That is a big cop out. Just because we are not perfect does not give us the right to misrepresent what we are called to be as Christians--free from ungodly influence of this sin contaminated world.

  7. I get these two mixed up but the twin without children that just got married on the Reality show Tia & Tamera want to be more sensual and sultry to win more television roles. She and her sister in one of the latest episodes thought being referred to as sweet was not a compliment proving once more to survive in Hollyweird you cannot be righteous but have to go along to get along and get work. She is now pushing wine products. Can't her husband provide enough income for her without doing this? The other twin that was on racy ungodly show called The Game completely turned into a Dr. Jekyll. I pray these girls remember what the bible said about how fleeting and temporal success and fame is in this world compared to eternity.
