The Ameboholic!!!

Two of my close friends, Chiago and Chiwi (They are engaged), gave me a card for my birthday and for a successful defense. On one of the cards they wrote, "The Ameboholic" with the intonations and all. At first, I could not figure out what they wrote but when I did, I laughed so hard... apparently, I am no longer The Talkaholic but now an Ameboholic.

I remember when I chose the name for this blog like it was yesterday. I needed to name it something and "The Talkaholic" just came to me. Now people call me "The Talkaholic" and I feel the name is a part of me. While I am not sure if it is a good word or bad one, another name comes into view... The Ameboholic...

I really wanna work with this name and I have been brain storming on what exactly I can do. Do I change the name of the blog? Do I start a column or something? I am most definitely not starting a new blog anytime soon so that is way out of the equation... but still what do I do? I am open to any suggestion.

Life is still beautiful and I am living it like it is golden. There are lots of things going on but I choose to have a very positive attitude. Also, I am pretty excited about the Nigerian Blog Awards and you can still nominate me here. To nominate you type the blog address not the blog name... Take note...

Have You Seen House: The Move Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday night, I sat down to watch the best Christian movie in the world!!! Trust me. When I saw Three, I was against independent producers adapting Christian novels for the big screen but after I saw this movie. Trust me... I am so so so so so so SPEECHLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the movie. I love the way it was not so preachy. I love the suspense. I love the cast. Words cant express how I feel. Just go watch the movie!

At The Farafina Visual Arts and Literature Event

I was at the Farafina Visual Arts andf Literature Event just a couple of minutes ago (I posted an AD about it a while back). Anyways, I attended it and it was fun.

On getting there, I met Enitan, my classmate from school. We were suprised to see each other because apparently that was the last place I expected to find her and vice versa. Anyways, after talking for a while, the event kicked off with a poetry recitation by Chiedu (I really cant remember his last name, forgive me). Anyways he did three poems, I cant remeber the first one (I am sorry again), 'The People' and 'Happy Christmasaing' which was the one that was very beautiful. He is like a male Maya Angelou.

After that, there was an art exhibition by Adolphus Okpara, a photographer. He opened his exhibition with a poem called 'Dahomey meets Benin' and I have forgoteen the poet (I dont know why I am forgetting these little details). Anywyas, his works were very very very impressive. I I had money, I would have purchased one.

Next was the book readings. Eghosa Imasuen (who by the way is Enitan's uncle or cousin; not too sure) read from his book 'To Saint Patrick'. The book is amazing, trust me, I am not exagerrating. I think we have similar writing techniqyes but hey, it's just a thought. The book is about Gen. Murtalal Mohammed who is apparrently 'alive'. Don't worry, he is six fet under. This is just fiction. The second book reading was from Nnedi Okoroafor who by the way i a sensational Nigerian-American author. She read from her book 'Zara, The Windseeker'. It is about a 13 year old girl named Zara who can fly thanks to her 'dada'. Tight, right?

Next was a song by Kafayat Quadri. The song is called 'Wa Si Ile Eko', a Yoruba song that encourages young people to go to school. Sge did it accompnied by an acoustic guitar. Which she playes herself. Followed awas a poem recited by Jumoke Verissimo from her new anthology 'I Am Memory' The poem was about the Niger Delta and it was amzing.

The famous Timi Dakolo came and also performed a song that I really dont know the name to. He then gave us a sneak preview to his new single 'This Little Light of Mine'. Kafayat Quadri came again and did a spoken word skit (that is what I think it was). Can't really remeber what it was about (I really should go se a doctor, why am I forgetting things?)

Sisters, Chioma and Oluchi then came to talk about their tour around Africa. They have a project called Celebrate Africa and the aim is to correct the mbalances and the distortion of Africa to Africans and the world in general. They travled for five months by road to Mali, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, Burkina Faso and others. It is actually a very cool project to me because it is fun and it has good intentions. They will tour 7 states in Nigeria from december to January and they will go to Central, East, North & South Africa from Febuary. Onbe thing that struck me about these girls is that they actually quit their jobs to do this and trust me it takes GUTS! For more info check out their site http://www.celebrateafrica.net/blog.html

Ok...So I didn't stay to the end. I left when they wanted to show a filmshow about Ben Okri. Note, I did not leave cause I was bored but because the event was on the Island and I live on the Mainland and I have to beat traffic so I can be home on time. But I left with something special, Award winning Nigerian Author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, gave me her authograph. It was an amazing event in general. I had fun. Maybe I should organize something like this for Christian Writers and artistes. So all the good Christian Writers and artistes, email me so we can work something out ok? Let us show the world what we have to offer. Maybe we will have Abidemi Sanusi, Ted Dekker, and Seye...lol

Book Review: Adam by Ted Dekker

The Bible says that the Kingdom of God suffers violence and the violent takes it by force. It is funny how most Christians have forgotten that the devil is still very much at work, going about by a roaring lion seeking whom to devour. It is necessary for Christians to be more aware of spiritual warfare and that is what Ted Dekker does in this book.

The book is about an FBI agent, Daniel Clark who is investigating a series of killings by a guy named 'Eve' who's victims are women. Eve apparently kills Mr Clark but after Mr Clark is brought back to life again, he goes after Eve because this time Eve has Daniel's wife.

The book is am amazing book as Mr Dekker proved to his readers that he has done his homework. You could see he did his research on psychopath killings and the FBI and behavorial sciences. Thios shows he has advanced and is more groomed in his writing. Also, the suspense in the book is off the chain as he manages to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Also, he talks about the importance of spiritual warfare in the end and we as Christians should recognize the importance. i do not mince words when I say this is an amazing book. I give the book a 10 out of 10.

The Talkaholic...now quiet?

Hey,

I know what all of y'all are thinking... that suddenly the talkaholic has suddenly gone numb but its not like that. For starters, I am writing my exmas. Yep. So, I have been reading all through and I have not really had time but soon, i will be back to talk and talk and talk cause that's all i do.

I am still madly in love with Adam by Ted Dekker . I mean how did he come up with a story as beautiful as that. I guess that makes Ted Dekker Ted Dekker(If you knw waht I mean). Also, I just started watching Gossip Girl after all the hype and I must say, I am impressed. I think i'll watch it well after the exams. Oh and Kirk Franklin's new album ROCKS!!!!! My best tracks are Declaration (This Is It), I Am God ft Tobymac and I Like Me ft Da' Truth. His album 'The Fight Of My Life' is available in media stores worldwide so go get yours.

Anyways, I'll come back soon, reenergerized to give you more information...You know how I do...Till then...Pray for me to Ace my exams...Lots of love
