A Christmas Love Story 002

Merry Christmas guys. Hope you are having a blast. I know I am. Well, I am about to bring you guys the final instalment of the christmas love story. Hope you like it and if you have not read the first part, do so before reading this one.
*****************************
Christmas lunch at the Jacob's house was always full of activity. People making jokes about the previous christmas. Tosin remembered the times when he used to actually love these dinners. Usually, he dreaded this occasions 'cause of the loss of his father but now he dreaded it for something else. He would rather be with Omada.

The train ride to Bayville was the best hour of his life. Omada and I talked through out and he even had the driver that came to pick him from the station, drop her at her house. Since then he hadn't been able to get her out of his mind. His mind trailed back to the conversation on the train.

"So do you want to talk about what happened 10 years ago?" She asked him

"No. I don't think so" he started fidgeting with the button on his suit

"And why don't you want to talk about it?" She asked him. She was looking directly at him and he was avoiding her eyes.

"Because its not important"

"Yea. You drop a bomb on me and the next thing you were gone. For 10 whole years! And you say it is not important?"

Tosin could remember that night. He had told her that they had been best friends all their lives but he didn't want to be best friends again. He wanted to be her boyfriend. Omada was in shock when he told her so he said he was going to let her sleep on it and they would talk about it on christmas day. Well, that was the morning his father died and immediately after the burial, he left without saying good bye.

"You were in shock when I told you"

"That was expected"

"What if you didn't feel the same way. What if you loved me and you ended up dead or something. I don't know. I was scared. I was afraid"

"Fear never gets us anywhere Tosin. You are a man. The worst I would have said was that I wanted to stay friends. That never hurt anyone"

"You think?" He was looking at her

"I know" the train stopped at the station as she said it. They climbed out and didn't say a word till they got to her house. Just before she got out she looked at him and said "meet me at the mango tree by 4pm. I have a christmas gift for you"

He smiled. The mango tree was their 2nd home. They practically grew up there. He wondered what she wanted to give him.

After lunch, Tosin wore his jeans and a faded blue t shirt and he made his way to the mango tree. He got there and started walking round the tree when he heard Omada's voice from the top of the tree.

"Yes we are still climbing the tree" she was smiling. She knew he didn't expect her to climb the tree after all there years.

He climbed it and balanced on a branch opposite to her.

"Wow. Who would have thought at 30 we would still be climbing trees"

"I would" she laughed

"You look beautiful" he told her

"I know right?" She said and smiled. He smiled back. She always knew how to make me smile

"So what is this gift you want to give me?"

"Well, someone once said everything happens for a reason and that maybe two people get close for a particular reason. I have been in four relationships in this last decade and you, Oluwatosun Isaiah Jacobs-" she paused and they laughed "Tosin, I want to be with you. I don't know how you feel or if these feelings have died but I know that for ten years, all I wanted was you. Anytime I look at your picture in the tabloids, all I wanted was you. So my gift to you this christmas, is me. I am giving you me. I want to be with you"

Tosin was speechless. He could suddenly feel the feelings he thought were gone. His straight face gave way to a the bright smile.

"I want you to Omade Oferi" he said as he leaned over about to give her a kiss when he heard a snap.

"Did you hear that?" He asks her

"I guess" she said and they heard another snap.

The next thing, the branches they were on snapped and the two of them went crashing to the floor, screaming and laughing uncontollably.

"I can't believe that just happened?" She said still laughing.

"Well it did" he said as he finally gave her the kiss he waited 10 years to give her.

And she responded as they kissed under the mistletoe. Sorry, mango tree.

Merry Christmas again

A Christmas Love Story

"Wait!"

Missing the train to Bayville on Christmas Eve was most definitely not part of the plan for Tosin Jacobs, even though missing the train will not be a bad idea.

Tosin seemed to have the life everybody craved for. A creative director position in the largest magazine in Africa, the house by the beach and of course the fat bank account. He was also listed on the top 100 most eligible bachelors in Africa and a recipient of the Chief Obadare Excellence in Media award. He was to be envied by his peers and most aspiring media practitioners considered him a role model. He was living the life.

Tosin could not care less about any of these things. He had lost the most important thing in his life 10 christmases ago and he had not recovered. His father who was EVERYTHING to him died on christmas morning. It was not the best of times in their family but everybody had got through it and moved on. They only wish they could say the same for Tosin. He poured his heart out to his work and came home only for Christmas because it was his father's remembrance.

Tosin got into the train and started moving to the first class coach when he saw her. They were best friends all their lives but after his father's death, he moved away and shut her out. Now he was seeing her for the first time in ten years and she still looked awesome. Her long dark weave flowed down to her shoulders and he could see her beautiful lashes as she looked out the window. He had to call her name.

"Omada"

She turned almost immediately and as soon as she saw him she let out a silent gasp. She could not believe he was standing before her.

"Tosin"

She stood up and for a minute they just stood there looking at each other until Omada made a move and gave him a quick hug.

"How you been?" Tosin asked her

"I have been great. I guess you are too. I mean everyone in the city knows about you" she said smiling as she spoke

Tosin still could not believe his eyes. Omada was looking very beautiful. It was like she had evolved from the silly tomboy with braces to a beautiful young woman.

"Tosin? You are not saying anything" she said, snapping into his thoughts.

"Don't mind me. Still can't believe I am staring at you"

"Yea"

An announcement comes for the passengers to take their seat.

"Come and sit with me in the first class coach" he asked her

"Yea. I'll just walk in with my economy ticket" she said. She took her seat and crossed her legs

A teenage boy not older than 16 came and sat beside Omada. A thought came to his mind.

"Hey man. This is your luck day, how about you take my ticket and you give me yours?"

"Really? You wanna trade first class for this?" He asked him

"Yea"

"Merry Christmas" the boy said in delight as he and the boy exchanged tickets.

"You know you didn't have to do that" Omada told him

"It has been a while. I couldn't just walk by and act like you don't exist" he told her

"Well you did it successfully for 10 years, I am sure a day won't have done anything to you"

"That is not fair"

"Really. It is not? Please T. What is not fair is you going away for 10 years and not making an attempt to see me. That is what is wrong" she looks at him and she sees he is smiling. "And why are you smiling?"

"You called me T" he said. He was grinning now

"No I didn't" she said

"Yes you did" he told her

"Whatever" she said as she continued to stare out the window.

The train began to pull out of the station. It was gonna be an interesting ride...

Watch out for the final instalment tomorrow

iLust

I lust after so many things...
Money. Power. Fame.
I want it all.
But I have not been wired to lust.
He says I should love.
So I don't want to lust again.
I will love
And wait for Him to do the rest.
Right now
Love, I must.

Would you be my sunshine?
Would you be my ray of hope?

Would you make my heart grow fond?
Would you make my spirit soar?
Would you take me to that place?
Would you love me endlessly?
Baby, would you marry me?

Runaway City

For a while, I have been feeling the need to runaway, find a place of solace. Well, I found a group who feel me and not just because their name is Runaway City but because I can relate to their music.

“At the end of the day, we want people to realize that we are real people,” drummer Chris Burrow says. “Even though we’re up on a stage, we go through struggles just like everyone else. By being authentic, we can truly connect with people. We don’t try to put ourselves above anyone else, and when we talk to our fans after a show, we want that to be apparent.”

When I heard "Fade" I was blown away. I just kept playing and playing and imagined myself perform the song.

“’Fade’ is basically a love song written to someone who is dealing with hardship and who feels like he or she is struggling alone,” Tyler explains. “It’s a musical snapshot of Christ’s love for us and an important reminder that no matter what we’re going through, God’s redeeming love will never fade.”

Influenced by the likes of Switchfoot, Daughtry, Needtobreathe, Safety Suit, U2 and Three Doors Down, Runaway City serves up a timely message with a sense of urgency. Filled with driving guitars, confessional lyrics and impassioned vocal delivery, Runaway City’s debut Armored Heart is creative yet completely accessible. I want you to listen to Fade and not only relate to the song but purchase their album "Armored Heart".

Gone too soon...

I can't believe it,
One minute you were here and the next you are gone.
It is really sad, to think that the lst time I saw you I was so preoccuopied in other things we didn't even have a decent conversation,
We were not close,
We didn't talk much,
But one thing I know for sure,
You will be missed.

You wil be missed by all of us,
Your friends, your old school mates and most especially your family.
Rest in peace man,
Rest in the arms of our Saviour,
Till we meet again,
Adieu
