Fall at His feet...

Are you depressed, in pain and can't seem to find your way through the darkness?
Fall at His feet.

Are you lost in the troubles of yesterday and you are wondering if there is a tomorrow for you?
Fall at His feet.

Do you wonder about what could have been and are you constantly bothered with what you could have done?
Fall at His feet.

Do you look at your life and worry that you have not actually being living for Him?
Fall at His feet

Are you desperate for Jesus Christ?
Fall at His feet.

And I will fall at Your feet, I will fall at Your feet, and I will worship You here. Freely You gave it all for us, surrendered Your life, upon that cross, great is Your love, poured out for us, this is our God. Lifted on high from death to life, forever our God is glorified, Servant and King, who rescued the world, this is our God
(This is Our God, from the This is Our God album by Hillsong, 2008. Words and Music by Reuben Morgan)

How did I get here?

It was one of those days. I woke up from a short sleep and the first thing I did was check my phone. If I was with my BlackBerry, I would have probably checked that first. I checked for missed calls and new messages. It wasn't like I was going to call or text back. I just needed to see if someone had tried to reach me. You know how "important" I am.

I get up, watch TV, brush my teeth, take a bath, drink a glass of water and I am out. In Out of Eden's word, I needed to go "kick it and hangout" with friends, acquaintances and even enemies. It is pretty cool to just hangout and interact with people. Is it not?

In the evening I go home, eat and watch TV and wish my life was a combination of all the shows I watch minus all the drama... and as I watch the show.... I sleep off.... and wake up the next morning....and the cycle continues....

How did I get here?

When did I switch priorities? When did "hanging out and having fun" become the core of my existence? Am I on earth to party hard and shayo and be popular? Am I here to club and stay relevant on the social scale? Am I here to just live my life for myself? Am I here to chill at the "hottest spots" and do I "Thank God Its Friday" so I can go out and "unwind" or am I meant to relax and enjoy the little things?

A while back, I asked God that I wanted to live so simple. According to Ms. Orrico "much less is more". I told him I wanted to be true to Him. You know? Just live my life so that it can shout of His fame. I told him I want to live a life of impact and of difference. I told him I didn't want to go through the motions: I didn't want to live my life just randomly... you know....
So how did I get here?

I want you to pause and look over your life and ask yourself how you got to were you are? Was this the place you hoped to be? What are your priorities? What are the things you consider important? Why do you do what you do? Are you making a difference?

Search yourself.

Make adjustments.

Live the difference.

New thoughts on life

Hey guys,
It feels good to be back on blogville. I have lots of gist as regards Zamfara but I want to share what came to me this morning. Be blessed

Sometimes it is like the darkness is closing in,
Things get really difficult,
We make friends, we lose friends,
There is pain, there is sorrow
We fall in love, we get heartbroken,
Its life.
How do we deal?
How do we go through it all?
There is that point were we sit and wonder if there really is a greater plan,
We are on a quest for something more (I know I am).

It is so sad that we sometimes build our hopes on the wrong things,
We look for love in ALL the wrong places,
We search for peace in material things.
I don't want to be that guy.
Life is too short.
I want to be content and happy,
I want to smile at the little things.
I do not want to just survive, I want to subdue and overcome.
I want my journey through life to be awesome,
So I am praying and hoping,
That at the end I will shed tears of joy and not pain,
That my laughter will echo all through eternity,
Life...oh life....
The determinant of how eternity is going to be,
Help me Lord...
Help me live the life.

Living the life

#nowplaying (on the television) Raheem DeVaughn- I don t care (Don’t know and care for the song)

Have you felt like you been in a box and someone or something was sucking the air out?

Have you ever felt like you were climbing a ladder and you cannot climb higher even though there is room for further climbing?

Have you ever felt invisible, going through life like you are insignificant?

Have you gotten to a point where you don’t know anything anymore and when you want to tell someone what you are going through, you run out of the words to say?

Have you ever felt like you are not LIVING the LIFE?

I got two questions. What is living and what is life? Well, according to Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary says living is a way or style of life (there it is, life again). So what is life? According to the same dictionary, life is the experience and activities that are typical of all people’s existences or the experiences that are typical of the person’s life or a persons experience during their life or the activities that form a particular part of a person’s life.

I am not going to define “living the life” (sorry, do the math) but you will agree with me that living the life has to do with experiences and how these experiences are formed. So, if you have no experiences you have not lived. Or have you?

This has got my mind spinning. Can’t I learn from people experiences? How am I sure that my experiences are enough? Do I need more? Should I just learn from someone else’s?

I had to talk to My Father.

He did something. He took my mind back to the song “All you need” by Out of Eden..

Don't look no further cause iIm all you need

No matter the problem the answer's in Me
I'll give you courage and I'll give you peace
When you get tired you can lean on Me

Then He takes me to this part of the song

Oh it's hard to understand, that there is a master plan

That He's got our life in His hands and there is reason
And a time and season, to everything that comes along
Though it seems all faith is gone, just keep on believing
And You'll hear him say to you...

Wow. Hear I am trying to figure my life and here He is saying my life is in his hands. Is that not awesome? So here is what I will do

1. Love God
2. Love everyone else
3. Laugh more
4. Cry more
5. Take long walks in the evenings (Will have to carefully consider. In Las Gidi, especially Ebute Metta, evenings are nott he best time to be walking)
6. Eat healthy
7. Read more
8. Pray more
9. Be cool
10. HAVE SOME FUN!!!

Watch out for OUIView....It is gonna be legendary

Like Sheep...

It has been an amazing week guys... I don't know about you but I can most definitely testify to that fact. In a couple of days, God will be perfecting what he started in me 4 years ago... Hallelujah!

Before we get to excited, lets ponder on this scripture...

Isa 53: 6 says All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord has made to light upon Him the guilt and iniquity of us all (The Amplified Bible).

My upcoming book "Me & Jesus' makes me think a lot about what Jesus did to win our souls... Have you thought have that lately.... We have all gone astray at one point and I want us to just reflect on the price He paid for you.. for me...

Meditate on the lyrics of this song by Natalie Grant. It is called "Because of Love"

Because of love he left his throne
And made this earth his home
He did it willingly
For you and me
With heaven left behind
He came to save all mankind
From sin and shame
He could have walked away
But instead he chose
To stay upon that tree
And take a crown of thorns for me
Because of love

Because of love he bore my pain (bore my pain)
Shouldering the blame
Why did he chose to go (he didn't have to go, no)
How could he love me so?
Because of love he called to me
He said child I will set you free
Youll have life abundantly
Because of love (because of love)

He gave unselfishly
Caused my blinded to eyes to see
It was you and me he had in mind
On the road to Calvary
I never known such a perfect love
I had fallen down but he picked me up
He rescued my soul
Now I want the world to know

Because of love he left the grave
Prepared for us a place
He'll back again someday
And I will hear him say
Because you believed
Youll live eternally
And I'll fall on my knees
And I will cry
Holy, holy, lord God almighty
You are worthy, to receive glory
Honor and power forever

Holy, holy, lord god Almighty
You are worthy
To receive glory
Honor and power forever
Amen, A-amen, oh A-amen
Amen

Holy, holy, holy
Holy, holy, holy
Holy, holy, holy
Jesus you are
The angels bow down and say
Holy, holy, holy
All creation cries out
Holy, holy, holy
Youre worthy of all the glory
Amen

Amazing song right? Just meditate on the lyrics and I pray that God grants you understanding.

The Redefinition of Me

Hey y'all.
I know it has been a while. Truth is, my heart has been here but TTG has been so time consuming... and fun too...

I deactivated my first Facebook account and created a new one. Trust me, it wasn't an easy task seeing that I have had that account since 2007. Thing is I had to do what I had to do. I am getting to a new point in my life and I am loving it. I think I want to stay at that point for a long time, I want to present a new me to the world. In 13 days time, I will be an eagle and I want to leave university a different person. I am reading a book by Francis Chan and it is called Crazy Love.

Picture from Jeremy Todd

The book is making me see things very differently. I have to change. I have to be a better person and I hope you will pray for me as I embark on this journey...

Please, pray for me...

Life is still beautiful though... God has blessed me with an amazing family, wonderful friends and YOU!!!

Reflecting

I am reflecting,
So much to do,
So little time,
Time slips away,
It is not my friend,
Gotta do what I gotta do,
God help me...

TEN THINGS I LOVE AND THE NIGERIAN BLOG AWARDS

http#nowplaying The Washington Projects- Love is like an Ocean
True love is like an ocean,
Like every shade of blue,
And every time I feel it,
I don’t know what to do,
But smile...

This is totally unrelated to this post but I am very happy. I was somewhat nervous about my exams but God has been showing Himself strong in my papers. He is too faithful, I mean honestly I know that He is the one that is working and showing Himself strong in my examinations. I love Him too much.

NakedSha tagged me in a post last month and the post was called “Ten Things I Love.” First, I want to apologize to her for just doing mine. I totally do not have an excuse and I am sorry. Anyways, this is it so sit back and read the ten things I love.
1.    God. He is Immortal, Invisible, the ONLY wise God. The One who was, who is and who is to come. He is so loving and I wonder why He loves me. I look at my life and I can CLEARLY see His hand over my life. What can I say? I love Him so much.
2.    Family. I love my family. Trust me, we are not The Huxtables. In fact, we are FAR from being The Huxtables but I love my family. I love my mother, my father, my siblings... you should see me when I am talking about my family. My friends can testify to the look I have or the way I feel when I have not spoken to any of them. I love them so much.
3.    Friends. I love my friends. Bunmi, Glory, Vivian, Ndatse, Isoken, Ope, Otaigbe, Chiago, Chiwi, Victor, Ngbede, Stephen, Funmi... they are amazing. I love having conversations with them. I love fighting with them. I love when we just chill together. I love when we talk about serious issues. I love when they encourage me in my faith. It is amazing. I love you guys!
4.    Writing. There is nothing as good as pouring out your thoughts on paper. When I write, I get to see things clearly. It is amazing when I really want to say things but I cannot because I would rather put it down on paper. Some people say I am not a good writer so I should not bother writing. Well, it is too late for that because I am addicted.
5.    Music. I love music. I cannot imagine an hour passing by without me listening to music. Even without a device playing, the song will play in my mind. It is as if I can hear the song and sometime I get my dance on. Right now, I am even listening to music. Kind of music I like- anything that makes sense. I cannot listen to songs that do not pass a positive message. I love music that makes me think even when I am dancing. Now you see why I love Sho Baraka so much. The artists I like are Hillsong Live (Their new album A Beautiful Exchange drops July 2010), Sho Baraka (Lions and Liars is off the chain!!!), Out of Eden (I miss them so much), The Washington Projects (Light Up The Dark frops June 2010), Group 1 Crew (I can't wait for the new video) and the likes.
Picture from Rapzilla.com
6.    Notepads/Notebooks/Journals. I love them. I spend most of my money buying notepads or cool notebooks or journals. Some of them are still empty, some of my friends have obtained some, some have been stolen but I still love to own them. I can get inspired anytime and it is good to have a notepad where you can put your thoughts in. One of my notebooks was a denim hardcover note and I wrote many things there but it was stolen. I was not the same for a week.
7.    Max Lucado. The first time I heard of Max Lucado was when one of my friends read one of His books and could not stop making noise about it. I am quite sceptical about Christian themed nonfiction books so I felt that he was probably one of them Christian authors who want to teach me a “Christian” version of the mainstream motivation messages. Everything changed when I read “The Applause of Heaven.” I loved the book so much I wrote a poem about it. Since then, Max Lucado never disappoints me. I have learnt so much from Him in a year and now I consider him my mentor.
8.    Talking. I am talkative. Most people think otherwise but you should ask my friends. I can talk a lot. I know it is not good too talk too much so I try to control myself but truth is I enjoy talking especially if I am talking to a group of people and I am telling them things they don’t really know. It is so cool. Talking is something I love to do although when you meet me for the first time, I WILL not strike you as someone that talks but do not mind the facade. I dey talk oh!!!
9.    Blogging. There is nothing that is as cool as blogging, especially when you are a Nigerian blogger. It is so much fun. I have been blogging since March, 2007 and back then it used to be kind of boring because I did not use to read other blogs. I will just post random stuff and my sister (Wise Sage) and Seye will read it and comment but things have changed. I have met amazing people on blogville and trust me the list is endless. I love blogging especially Blogville Naija... I am planning a party for us soon so keep your ears to the ground.
10.    Food. I love food. Rice, bread, egg, chicken, meat, banga, starch, dodo, noodles, spaghetti, potatoes, akara, moin moin, junk food... I love food and now I am hungry.

I hope you all enjoyed it. So now, I am tagging Dew, T-Notes, Rotex, Tolu Akanni and Chiwi. I am also doing a Q and A here. NakedSha has done it on her blog (This young lady inspires me) and Brooke Fraser also did it on her own blog so I want to do mine. So you can drop your questions after you comment or you can send your questions to my email harryitie@gmail.com. I am waiting for your questions.

Meditate on Colossians, the 3rd chapter, the first verse. It says in The Message translation “So if you're serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides.”

Why do we hurt the ones we love???

This was the question on my mind yesterday as I was washing. I can't really place what led to my asking the question but the deal is that I feel this is the issue. I feel that most times the people we end up hurting most times are the ones we love. Why do we do that? I mean, we are supposed to love them right?

Someone says hurt is inevitable... I do not agree. It's funny how a mother loves her child so much and in the end, she realizes he has been a very bad boy or the chic who realizes that the guy she gave her heart to is cheating...

I was wrapping up my novel "Kiss and Tell" when I decided to take a break. Apart from getting ready for final exams and all, I am at a very sad point in the book and I realized I was crying... I have hurt many people who I love and trust me it was unintentional...

Question is why do I do it????

I need to do some soul searching

Cold Feet et al... Part 2

If you did not read the first part of this post, you should go and check it out here

First, I want to specially thank NakedSha for the amazing audio message she sent to me. Listening to it brought so much joy to mu spirit. Thank you so much... God bless you and may He give you exceeding joy, in Jesus name.

I was gonna comment on the last post but somehow, I couldn't so let me write what I wanted to say here...

@Nakedsha... Got the email... thank you so much
@Jabez...Thank you...you are most def invited to the graduation party
@Ope... My darling... It's OK.... I should have let you know wassup
@gidiasianbabe... I will sure remember that
@Suru... I guess you are right... Thanks for the prayer 2

Thank you so much guys for the comments and prayers... God bless you a mega zillion times!!!

My close friend for 3 and something years, Vivian, wrote this to me yesterday after she read it and I want to share it with you...

Lift up your eyes,
Lift up your hands,
See the sun,
Smell the sea,
in simple terms: TAKE A BREAK!!!

I know this feeling! Oh yeah, I do. I am the only child of a Bishop. Imagine the pressure. The only different thing is my fantasies, hopes and dreams still have a while before achievement.

Day 1 (Friday): Take a break! Relax! Enjoy life
Day 2 (Saturday): Reflect on the past, consider the future but focus on the present.
Day 3 (Sunday): Go to Church, listen to the Word and make a firm decision.

During these three days, consider the following life nuggets.

Don't live till tomorrow, what you can do today. Free up your tomorrow.
Don't live your fate in the hands of others. Do it yourself.
Depend on no one for your security and your happiness but God.
Live your life for YOURSELF and no one else but God.

Pray this prayer:
Lord I believe. Help my unbelief.

Trust me, God dey!!!!

You don't want to know how I felt when I read this. I was so happy. I am extremely grateful to God for nudging me to express myself because this feeling had been there for a long time... since April to be more precise... It is not like I don't know all this, is just I had been there and done all that and it wasn't working. But from all the comments from the last post, to NakedSha's message to Vivian's amazing note, I can clearly hear God speak to me... It is so amazing...

I am not there yet but I am getting there... thank you again guys... My testimony is coming really soon so watch out for it...

Have a blessed Thursday...

Trotcha!

Vivian and I...

Cold Feet, Bitten Fingernails, Hair on the edge... Help me believe.

I don’t know but it is like I have cold feet. I am rounding up my university education and I am worried and scared. Truth is my university education was not the one I imagined. It was supposed to be better than what it has turned out to be. I was supposed to shine extremely bright but somewhere along the line, things changed.

I have been trying to ask myself where it all went wrong. I am wondering how all the misconceptions about me arose. How I failed to meet my expectations and that of everyone that knew/know me. I am not doing poorly, don’t get it twisted but at the same time, it is like I am a disappointment.

I want you to note at this point that this is not a pity note and I will most definitely NOT be hosting a pity party anytime soon. Thing is I just want to know how and why. People tell me believe God and yourself and all things will fall in place and that there is a bigger picture blah blah blah. Seriously? Is that really the case? I was doing an inventory of my life presently and I could not help but break down. Right now, blogging is the only thing I do and actually love. My writings, my poetry… they are the things that make sense right now. It is like I am in a dark hole and so many things are unsure. I am doing things I don’t want to do and…

Five years ago, I had a different dream. I imagined what five years from then will look like, my graduation and all… I imagined how I would be as an individual. Right now, it feels like I was living in a fantasy. Once again, I beg you not to get it twisted, I am grateful to God for how far he has brought me but I am not exactly happy and today I admitted it to myself. I am not only unhappy, I am scared and you don’t want to know the thoughts that have been running through my mind.

So I am here, sitting in this dark hole, trying hard to believe that there is so much more to my life. I am trying to believe that all things will work together for my good. The only question I ask is do I even love the Lord? Things are really weird with me and I… (Blank)

God. Help me believe. I want to believe in You and I want to believe in me. I want to believe in love and I want to know that I will make it till the end and finish the race with a huge smile plastered on my face. I want to believe that my family and friends will be happy with me and that I have become a better person. I want to believe.

Right now, my feet are cold from fear, my fingernails are bitten from intense nervousness, and my hair is standing on edge. I mean anything can happen. Please, help me believe again.

Have your way

This is my request, O Lord,
That even as I prepare for tomorrow,
You will have Your way.
Speak through me, Lord.
Prove to them that I actually know what I am doing,
Give me the confidence I need to defend my work,
Let me speak with charisma that they have not see before,
But most of all,
Have your way and Let Your will be done.
Amen.

I got my defense tomorrow. Pray for me guys. It is gonna be a walk over.

Unhealthy Relationships

Before I start, I wanna thank EVERYBODY who reads my blog and drops comment. I really appreciate it, you don't know how I feel when I check my blog and I see the amazing comments you guys leave... I am gonna cry...(sniff)... ....lol

Anyways, to the subject of discussion. Unhealthy relationships. It could be between a guy and his girlfriend or vice versa. It could be between a child and his parents, it could be between siblings or it could be between friends. The funny thing is that the parties involved usually know they are in unhealthy relationships, so the knowing is not the hard part... The hard part is knowing when to walk away.

I was listening to Let it Go by Keyshia Cole and she said, If he ain't gonna love you, The way he should, Then let it go, If he ain't gonna treat you, The way he should, Then let it go... The song got me thinking, what if a married woman listens to this song, will she then file for a divorce because she wants to let it go?

Right now, I am trying to understand relationships and I am coming to a conclusion... It is too complicated!  Talk more of unhealthy relationships... most times we feel it is so easy to walk away from unhealthy relationships but is it? Feelings are not switches that we can just turn off and on at will. Most times they are strong that is what makes letting go so hard.

I don't even know what I am saying anymore. This relationship issue is so one kind... Have you ever been in an unhealthy relationship before? How where you able to let it go?

On Feelings...

Feelings. They can be deceptive and they can be very selfish. They can be very amazing too. Truth is, they can be tricky and sometimes I don't even know what I feel. If there is one thing I have come to realize, it is that God is greater than our feelings. Yes. You heard me. He is greater than the feelings we feel. No matter ho much we want to get angry or how much we want to hate that guy or how much she played with your emotions... God can help you get over those feelings and give you the strength to try again. It might sound like a cliche but it is the truth. Besides, think of it, no one gets his or her feelings hurt the way God does. He gives us 100% and what do we do, we give Him 5%. If He is lucky He may get 10 from us and maybe 25% from others... But He doesn't give up. He keeps on loving us so who are we to give up on people if they hurt our feelings just once... Your pain cannot compare to the one Christ feels when He sees the people He died for crucify Him over again... Think of it and maybe when you do Loving your neighbor as Christ as loved you wouldn't be so hard.

I need us to think about this and decide what we are going to do. Are we gonna let our feelings control us or are we gonna let the Holy Spirit control us? Make your pick...

Don't put me in a BOX!!!

I feel we humans love to put ourselves in little boxes. I guess we have a twisted mindset that when we do that, we can understand them better.

I can like to disagree there...

From experience, I have come to realize that the people I put in these boxes are the hardest to read and we always end up fighting... I dunno if anyone here can relate... Truth is, I have come across lots of people this week who have kept me in various boxes and in my mind I am like why would you put me in a box? You don't know me that well... It is then worse when a family member or a close friend is the one putting you in the box... GOSH!!!

Anyways, I have been listening to the Faith+Hope+Love album from Hillsong and I wanna share the lyrics to an amazing song from the album. It is called It's Your Love and it describes the love God has for us... You should probably  check for the video on Youtube... You will love it... Here are the lyrics to the song... it was written by Mia Fieldes and it was led by Darlene Zschech.

It's Your Love
Verse 1:
Upon the hill on Calvary
He came from Heaven’s throne
Our fallenness and mercy meet
Where blood and water flow

Verse 2:
What grace divine what selflessness
That Christ would bear the weight
Our proof is scarred on hands that bled
That we were worth every nail

Chorus:
And all the praise and glory to God
We sing Hallelujah sing Hallelujah
For the King has carried the cross
He is risen from the grave

Verse 3:
Beyond the tomb to holy skies
He rose in victory
And bridged for us the great divide
His life is our liberty

Chorus x2

Bridge:
It’s Your love
It’s Your love
It’s Your love
That has saved me

It’s Your blood
It’s Your blood
It’s Your blood
That has cleaned me

Reflecting on life...

I called my mum today and she told me that one of our aunties had died. For a brief moment my heart skipped a beat. Died? Yea, she was old and all but I wasn't expecting it and I am very sure the whole family...

Right now I am reflecting on life. To know that one minute you are here and the next minute you are gone... I don't know... truth is my head is spinning now. Whether we admit it or not, we are all truly blessed and this life we are given, we need to to live it well... there are no second chances as regards life so... live a little...love a little and please forgive...

Check out The Eden Project. There is an amazing article which inspired a poem on Anani Speaks and please guys... Season 2 of Kiss and Tell has started so please check it out...

Take care guys...

Maybe that's the reason why I love you...

Been trying to figure out why I love you for a while now...
Is it cause you're cute?.... Nah...
Is it cause you're sexy?... I think I'll pass...
Is it cause you're funny.... Nah.. you are not...
Is it cause you're intelligent... Nah... Cs & Ds don't count...

So why do I love you so much? I can't stand you on a normal day. You talk too much, you eat too much, you sleep too much...you sly too much... your life itself too much.. abeg you too dey do sef!

So what exactly draws me to you, when most times you irritate me to my bone marrow? Why do I cry when you cry and laugh when you laugh? Why am I worried when you are in trouble? Why do I go out of my way to please you? Why do I take your insults smiling? Why am I always there for you?

It is simple... Love one another the way I loved you... Simple. Short. From the One who is love Himself. He loves me unconditionally and He has instructed me to do the same for you too... He loves me no matter my imperfections so who am I to love you based on my feelings? That will be selfish

Love one another the way I loved you...

Hmmn... Maybe that's the reason why I love you...

I need help...

I do not feel too good right now.
I do not even know why but I hate when this happens. I feel like crap honestly. So many things seem wrong and I cannot just explain.  I wish my life were much better than it is right now. There is so much wrong and I wonder if I could do anything right. This past weekend I have been wondering how I got to this place. The fake smiles, the fake “I am fine”... it all seems so wrong.
I need to talk to someone badly but whom do I talk to? I hate these down moments because most times I cannot seem to figure out what is wrong with me. It is sad, honestly and I am trusting God for something new. I put my efforts into so many things but it seems that it does not show for anything.
I do not like the person I see when I look at the mirror. That is the truth. I am not asking for your pity, please. I am just being very honest here...
I feel so alone and God knows it is not the best feeling in the world. It is a feeling that makes you feel like crap every time you try to reflect over your life.
I need help. Do not pity me. Pray for me.
